Radio Shack 15-2133 Kameleon

$59.00

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Usability is awesome, remote is VERY durable, great remote for those who want a higher-end remote without the ridiculous price tag. Like this remote better than some LCD remotes i've owned.

The Cons:Battery life can deminish if certain precautions are not taken. The update feature on this is obsolete.

This sleek six-device remote features a brand new technology that only illuminates the commands available for the selected device on its colored touch-sensitive panel. Includes learning capabilities and basic macros.

Richard R Tate: #radio_shack_15_2133_kameleon The update feature on this is obsolete. radioshack no longer supports this device, the best answer i got from a RadioShack Manager was to research online and see what i come up with.

here's a thread with some info:
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-one4all/thread.cgi?5516

apparently,

'The way it works is like this, you call the (330) 405-8620 number and give them the model number of your remote (they will assume you have a "One For All" remote, so be sure to tell them first if you have a "Radio Shack" remote), then they ask you what equipment you have and if the codes need to be added to your remote, they will prepare a WAV file for you.

They will then email you a link to the WAV file, but the link is custom for you, it isn't a general link that anyone can use.

Some of the UEI web sites have vanished (like kameleon.com and mykameleon.com), but the download site (ie, ezremote.com) is still there if you can find the right URL for your remote. To download WAV files you will first need to register, then they'll send you a serial number via email that you can use to log on.'

hope this helps anyone having the same issue as me.

I love everything about the remote, purchased back in 2003 and still running strong. If you are moving it around all the time, battery life can be an issue, but if you have good rechargable's, or call that same number, they will walk you through disabling the motion sensor feature.

Otherwise, don't buy from RS unless you want to be left on your own. unless you purchase a product with an extended warranty, radio shack will give you the runaround. the extended warranty tech support is an outsourced company who can only help you if you are covered under that extended warranty; this also means, if within standard warranty, you would have to deal directly with the manufacturer [a 3rd party company], and if it happens to be radioshack, again, you're up a shi*-creek with a paddle the size of a toothpick.
