Pioneer VSX-D509S

$435.00 Released January, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Priced low enough for entry-level users. DTS playback is clean and true to the original recording. Plenty of power output, more than enough to drive larger surround speakers.

The Cons:On-screen display doesn't show everything, have to sometimes guess at certain features having turned on correctly. Takes a long time to work out all the connections, need to spend time with the manual. Manual is poorly written and a bit confusing.

Released in 2000, the Pioneer VSX-D509S is a 500W Dolby 5.1 (100W per channel) Surround Digital Audio/Video Receiver. It features Dolby Digital and DTS surround decoding, as well as Pioneer’s four Advanced Theater modes (Musical, Drama, Action, Expanded).
