#haier_42ep24s This is a (very large) 800x600 (852x480) plasma computer monitor. It can handle 480p on its DVI port (EDTV) and down-rez from 1080i but it is neither a HDTV TV nor a HDTV monitor. It has great screen clarity and detachable side speakers. Never seen so many connections - VGA, component, S-video - the works. Some users report it going prematurely black - this is when you throw it away. It is cheap, made in China and nowadays not worth repairing. I have had mine for the last 2.5 years (from Sears) and it goes great (fingers crossed). Enjoy.

#haier_42ep24s There is a mysterious date (Mar 30 2006) that is constantly on-screen with this television. It disappears when some menu/display functions are accessed, but only while another menu is on. It is not the date that is set to the calendar, and there is no way that I can figure out (after reading the manual and 'looking around' for probably more than an hour) to keep it turned off.
It is very annoying, does anyone have any idea how to remedy this?
