AMD Phenom X3 8750
$175.00
Released April, 2008
The Pros:Excellent quality control, always works perfectly out of the box. Can sometimes re-activate the fourth core and it will work just fine. Capable of being overclocked for an extra speed boost.
The Cons:Compatibility bug with Windows Vista 64-bit causes crashes. Draws a lot more power than most AMD CPUs released in the last two years. Not as fast as a number of lower-priced CPUs on the market today.
The only processor line to utilize 3 cores, the Phenom X3 8750 attempts to strike a balance between number of usable cores and price. In reality a true Phenom X4, the 8750 contains a malfunctioning core which was disabled after manufacture.
